On October 4th, the world felt the impact of the absence of platforms associated with the company Facebook, Inc.(Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messeger) used around the world that nowadays have become essential for communication with family members, news and business (e-commerce), etc. The reason for the outage and the company's actual financial losses.

Remember that this was not the first incident because in 2019 the platform was out of service for almost 24 hours where the possible cause was a change in the configuration of its internal servers, which triggered cascading problems.

There are several theories about the reasons when platforms are out of order such as: problems with the DNS (Domain name System), cyber attacks that implicitly lead people to start using applications from competing companies or even protests (such as happened on the same day , where during a meeting  Antigone Davis (Facebook) debated on CNBC  about complaints about the company when manipulating data and the harmful side of the Instagram platform to young people).

What is noteworthy is that in none of the episodes there is a convincing public statement, which may be a precautionary measure in order to ensure stability and trust of users. What we can get out of this episode is to avoid the Single Point of failure that is, despite the scope of the platforms in question, we must always use redundant means for both interpersonal communication or even for business, as we were faced with an implicit monopoly created by ourselves and which, as we have seen, many were inoperative and without production.
