WhatsApp implements group audio and video calling capability

WhatsApp started implementing group audio and video calls this week - a feature similar to Skype or Whatsapp e Google Hangouts. However, the first to receive are those who managed to download the trial version.

Announced in early May during the F8 conference, focused primarily on Facebok, group calls allow up to four users to simultaneously connect to a single connection in WhatsApp.

To use, simply start a call with a contact and on the connection screen select the button to add more participants. Only those users who have the same version of WhatsApp can participate in the call.

The feature is being implemented gradually in both WhatsApp Beta 2.18.162 and Android as well as iOS, and there is no prediction of when group calls will be available to all users.

Group video calls, especially, are a long-awaited and also heavy resource, generating a heavy load on the company's infrastructure. So releasing the novelty allows people to test at different times, without risk of a system crash or connection problems.
