WhatsApp reduces time to delete sent messages

Attention, frequent users of the WhatsApp! The application will change the maximum deadlines to delete the messages sent, in an attempt to combat the use of modified versions of the application, which circumvent such protections.

The company reduced to 13 hours, 8 minutes and 16 seconds the maximum time that a deleted message will be available if the recipient is offline (disconnected from the internet, outside the service area or with the phone turned off).

This means that if a user requests that a message be deleted at 10 hours, it will only be deleted if the recipient is online at least once until 23 hours and 08 minutes and 16 seconds of the same day.

This time period refers to the time the request is received on the mobile phones of all those involved in the conversation, which also means that if a user is offline during this time and only returns to the network after their end, the message will not be deleted for him. It is a reduction of more than half in a limit that today is 25 hours.

If this happens, the deleted message can be viewed the moment it goes online. According to WhatsApp, this is a measure to break gaps in the system. As it works today, deadlines are more elastic, but users of modified versions are able to delete messages that have been sent for months or years, something that is not desirable for the platform development team.

And the expectation is that the novelty reaches all compatible operating systems, whether in smartphones Android, iOS, as well as in the web version for Windows e MacOS. The announcement of the option to delete messages was welcomed by users.
