It is already known that Windows 11 will be updated for free on computers that currently use Windows 10, but few people know that there are some mandatory hardware specifications so that the software can be installed worry-free.

It's already on October 5th, Tuesday, that the new operating system from Microsoft, Windows 11, will be released, and that comes with the label of improving in design, tools and especially in security. The long-awaited software will be made available free of charge as an update for computers running Windows 10. But there is a catch: the necessary requirements must be taken into account so that it can be installed without any problems.

If you have a recent computer, released in the last two or three years, you should not encounter any issues with the hardware specs. The problem is more for older computers, especially with regard to the TPM security chip, which in Windows 11 requires version 2.0. For this, you must have a processor with at least 1 GHz speed, with two or more cores, 64 bits. As for memory it has to have at least 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.

Other types of more advanced settings are having UEFI BIOS with secure boot, and as we mentioned above, TPM 2.0. TPM, short for Trusted Platform Module, is a security chip embedded in motherboards that enhances operating system security. About the graphics card (GPU), it has to be compatible with DirectX 12.

We must also inform you that initially Windows 11 cannot be installed offline, that is, it is mandatory to have an internet connection and respective Microsoft account. Last but not least, the computer screen must be at least 9 inches and a resolution of 720p.

BUT: OFFICIAL: Windows 11 will be released on October 5th

We also point out that in case you don't have a computer compatible with Windows 11, and you don't have in your plans the purchase of a new PC or an upgrade to your machine, Microsoft will continue to keep Windows 10 active for a few more years. In other words, you can continue to use Windows 10 (in Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations versions) until October 14, 2025, when Microsoft's official support ends.

Also note that Microsoft does not intend to block old computers from upgrading to the new operating system, even if they are not on the list. But users will not be able to do it automatically, it will be necessary to download the ISO file, unofficially and install it manually. But that doesn't save you from receiving messages warning you that your computer is not supported.
