OSX 10.10, Yosemite

As expected WWDC, Apple's annual developer conference, focused on software. Everyone was curious to know how Apple would innovate, by the way, if it would even innovate. The answers were given, beginning with the new operating system for Macs, the OS X 10.10, or simply, OSX Yosemite with new design, inspired by iOS.

To begin with, the icons were redesigned, following the iOS 7 standard. And the interface is more colorful and more flat (ie plans).

The Mac file explorer, the finder, has undergone profound changes, working in a more interactive way with the entire operating system.

Using the same approach to Windows, OSX has developed a notification area quite similar to iOS7.

The Apple browser, the Safari has also been redesigned:

  •  All controls focus on just one line.
  • Opening anonymous tabs at the same time as conventional tabs, without interfering with your browsing.
  • Better organization of open tabs

With the new OS, Yosemite, Apple brought iCloud Drive, which synchronizes files between two different computers. This service will be compatible with Windows (an attempt to compete Dropbox or Google Drive, Box, among others).

A feature that caught the eye: integration between Macs, iPhone and iPad

Apple has invested in “Continuity” between devices. For example, we can start reading on the Mac and continue reading on the iPad in an easy way. The secret behind this “miracle” is a feature called Handoff: with an iOS device associated with your computer, share information (photos, videos) just by clicking a button. And the integration happens in two ways, giving the chance to continue on the Mac what we started doing on the mobile device.

The integration between iPhone and Mac has reached another level, with the AirDrop feature, which now works across all of these devices. This will make it possible for OSX 10.10 to send and receive SMS and phone calls from the computer itself. This without using an extra application and moreover for free.
