A report shared by the European Commission indicates that the social network X (formerly known as Twitter) is the biggest source of misinformation among all major social networks.
The report in question consisted of examining X, the Facebook: LinkedIn: Instagram: TikTok and YouTube, more specifically six thousand publications and more than four thousand different accounts from three countries with elections taking place soon: Spain, Poland and Slovakia.
According to the European Commission's analysis, X was considered the platform with the highest rate of disinformation – not only in terms of publications, but also accounts dedicated to this 'activity' – surpassing even Facebook.
"The Russian state entered into a war of ideas to pollute our information space with half-truths and lies to create false images that democracy is no better than autocracy", commented the vice-president of the European Commission for Values and Transparency, Věra Jourová.

It should be noted that the CEO of the social network, Linda Yaccarino, was present at the Code Conference event where, among other topics, she took the opportunity to announce that the company will be profitable at the beginning of next year.
"Now that I'm on top of the company, and we have a good set of eyes on what's predictable, everything indicates that we'll be profitable in early 2024", said Yaccarino.
It is worth remembering that, since Elon Musk became the leader of Twitter, the platform has seen a drop in revenue with the departure of more and more advertisers. Regarding the departure of these advertisers, Yaccarino noted that “90% of the top XNUMX advertisers returned to the platform in the last twelve weeks”.
Although the executive president of X has not committed to a number of users of the social network, Yaccarino stated that, since June, people have been spending more time on the platform.
