The inhabitants of Luanda can now move around the city with the online transport application yango, the new urban mobility option in the Angolan capital, available from the 8th of April.

Cheaper trips, new features, more convenience and service availability are the promises of Yango in Angola, the sixth African country and the 20th in the world to have this urban mobility option.

The platform is available in Portuguese for iOS and Android operating systems. To use this service, users will have to download the application and activate the geolocation service. Then, just indicate the place of origin and destination and the algorithm does the rest: it indicates the nearest driver, determines the fastest route, estimates the travel time and calculates the price that, for the time being, will have to be paid in cash (other payment methods will be available soon). With rates starting at 550 kwanzas for one trip, the company intends to keep prices affordable thanks to its own cutting-edge technological solutions.

Yango guarantees the quality of the service, by constantly monitoring the rating that customers give drivers at the end of each trip. Users will also have a customer service center at their disposal, from which they will be able to ask questions, report any inconvenience or even recover a forgotten mobile phone, for example.

Unlike other online transport services, Yango has a unique technology that allows it to offer features that did not exist in the Angolan market – such as selecting multiple destinations. The application also uses its own maps and innovative route calculation systems that significantly reduce service costs, not only for passengers, but also for drivers, who will now be able to work on a “chain order” basis. This feature allows drivers to save a lot of time looking for new customers, as they can head to the next stop before finishing the current journey.

Optimizing the time spent on the road, with consecutive and intelligently distributed trips, translates into lower fuel costs, less wear and tear on the car and even reduced city congestion.

"Yango sees great opportunities to develop business in Angola, as the number of digitally connected people in the country is growing daily. Angola has an economy in active development and there is great demand for a modern “urban transport” service.", declared Ivan Mugimbo, Director for Angola at Yango.

The official also underlined that in addition to wanting to be the most accessible service on the market, Yango has a special focus on quality and safety features that allow both users and drivers to feel at ease during each trip. “We are convinced that people in Angola – the sixth country in Africa in which we are present – will appreciate the care and features that we have added to our urban travel service”.

Yango will not work directly with drivers, but with local partners – transport companies registered as Angolan legal entities, which those interested in joining Yango will have to contact. Along with the launch of the app, a center dedicated to drivers was recently inaugurated in Luanda, where those who currently work with Yango partners can learn to work with the app and undergo training and tests.

In addition to Angola, Yango operates in Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, Senegal and Zambia. International in nature, the company is present in over 14 countries in Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East.
