the mobility app Yango, which has been one of the leading taxi services in Angola and Africa, has recently launched a new security feature to enhance its customers' experience, namely the driving monitoring technology.
According to what our editorial staff revealed in a statement, with this new safety feature the system will automatically monitor, in real time, the driving style of Yango's partner drivers, through accelerometer readings. Innovative technology in the country has the main objective of guaranteeing safer driving practices, strengthening driver training and optimizing operational efficiency, for greater customer satisfaction.
The new Yango app feature will actively monitor drivers' behavior behind the wheel. The analysis of the data received will make it possible to identify opportunities for specific training in driving and road safety, with a view to continuous improvement of Yango's service.
The application yango pro it will also take accelerometer readings to alert drivers to dangerous maneuvers and potential accidents. This data will be collected from the smartphone or tablets on which the application is installed. An accelerometer, it should be noted, is a sensor that helps measure the acceleration of an object.
At the same time, the system now captures all aggressive manoeuvres: sudden starting and braking, erratic lane changes and not keeping the safety distance from other cars.
Per Yango's policies, constant and regular dangerous maneuvers are considered a violation of the mobility app's service standards, where the driver in question will receive a notification about the dangerous driving style.
BUT: Yango encourages the formalization of taxi companies with cheaper rides
As for constant systematic violations, the technological functionality may limit the driver's access to service requests, as well as Yango is even able to distinguish the aggressive driving style from everyday situations (it will not take into account, for example, when the driver takes on the device where you have the application installed).
"We believe that we can contribute to Yango's efforts and create awareness of traffic and road safety in the country. We would like to continue to focus on providing more safety features and solutions and raising our drivers' awareness of the importance of following traffic laws and rules.”, said Ivan Mugimbo, representative of Yango Angola, quoted in the statement.

Yango has also introduced a comprehensive Safety Center for passengers, equipped with an SOS button for emergencies and a “share route”, for greater customer safety.
