It was in the week that ended that we learned that Facebook is looking into the idea of change name, with the aim of creating (like Alphabet and Google) a parent company that is in charge of overseeing Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and Oculus.
However, according to journalist Casey Newton on his respective Twitter page, he reported that Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has yet to decide what the company's new name will be.
Fresh details about the FB rebrand:
– Move has been under discussion seriously for at least 2 months; casually for 3+ years
– The final name *appears not to be chosen*;
– Some are saying Zuckerberg is now leaning *away* from Meta /metaverse brandinghttps://t.co/UF1VoDTAFb- Casey Newton (@CaseyNewton) October 21, 2021
On the same twitter, the renowned journalist cites two (anonymous) sources to say that this process of 'rebranding' of the company started two months ago. Newton also adds that we may have news as early as tomorrow, Monday, the 25th, which will be the day of the meeting with investors.
BUT: Nobel Peace Prize Winner Says Facebook Is “Partial Against Facts”
While the name is not released, Facebook remains silent on this matter, but given the information that has been circulating in recent days, it is possible that we will have news soon on this matter.
