Submarine fiber optic cable improves internet access in Cabinda

The population of Cabinda, specifically young people and companies, are now better served in internet access with the arrival of the submarine cable and its interconnection to the national fiber optic cable network.

According to civil society, who were speaking in an ANGOP report, they stressed that they benefit from the digital network through optical fiber, with multiple facilities, with emphasis on the residents of Urbanização 4 de Abril, who already have the Unitel North Submarine Cable System, an ambitious project that boosted telecommunications in the region.

The aforementioned submarine cable is part of the planned fiber optic network, which connects the provinces of Cabinda and Zaire, through two different routes. The Submarine Fiber Cable is around 1145 km long and has a design capacity of 93,4Tbit/s.

To ensure high reliability network connections in the turbulent waters of the Congo River estuary, the system adopts a protected 1+1 design. A repeat segment will connect Cacongo and N'zeto; while a non-repeated segment will connect Cabinda and Soyo, both cities of great importance in Angola's oil production.

It should also be noted that, in the province of Cabinda and within the scope of improving services, the respective telephone operator carried out last May the extension of the 4G signal in the northernmost municipality of that territory, Buco-Zau, having previously done it at the Cabinda headquarters and commune of Malembo, as well as in the commune of Dinge, in the municipality of Cacongo.
