Angolan team qualified for the “Huawei ICT Competition” final in China

In September 2018 Huawei announced the “Huawei ICT Competition"Promising participants free access to technical training, Huawei's routing technology, switching technology, and information security.

The national competition elected the members of the ITEL Technological Training Center, who in turn were representing Angola in the regional final of the HUAWEI ICT COMPETITION Sub-Saharan Africa competition. The contest is held annually by Huawei and aims to promote the IT industry and discover new talents for ecosystem strengthening.

On March 10 in 2019, in South Africa, the awards ceremony was held. Teams from South Africa and Tanzania shared first, while teams from Angola and Kenya were second.

The four teams will travel to China for the grand finale, where 40 teams from around the world will compete for the title of world champion.

In the regional final, the CFITEL team competed with participants from more than 100 universities from countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana and Mauritius.

The regional finale counted on 42 alumni in 14 teams. They did theoretical and practical exams at Huawei's regional headquarters in Woodmead, Johannesburg.

  • Luís Erivaldo dos Santos Gonçalves (Representative of Huawei in Angola);
  • Masobele José Monteiro (Huawei-CFITEL Academy Instructor);
  • José Luís Morais Simão (Student of CFITEL);
  • Joaquim Jacinto da Conceição (Student of CFITEL);
  • Luís António de Almeida (Student of CFITEL).
