“Open Day for Science” event aims to help the Rural Community of Calumbo

O Next Einstein Forum (NEF) has great interest in the central use of science as an indispensable element for the development of communities.

Under the program Africa Science Week 2018, which is organized for the first time in Luanda 22 to September 29, Oscar António, the ambassador of the NEF to Angola, after numerous visits and conversations with the administration, educational institutions, and even with some residents of the Calumbo Rural Community, after Zango 5, Viana Municipality, dedicated himself to his team to develop a program called “Open day for Science”, which takes place in different motivational, technological and scientific events taking place in the Saturday, day 22 from September, from 9h to 13h, at 5105 School.

PRIMARY SCHOOL 5105

This program was openly received by the 5105 School, a school of the first cycle of education which will be the host of the various events that aim to inspire the most diverse students that it contains.

The 5105 school has been in existence for 12 years, and has tirelessly dedicated itself to developing the intellectual capacities of young people in the Calumbo Community, who in the past were only dedicated to fishing and agriculture as a source of subsistence and primary activities.

This school has 989 students em 8 classrooms (50 students per classroom on average) in the morning and afternoon, these students between 7 and 40 years old.

EVENTS

The organization has the support of the International Private School Complex (CEPI), the BUS CENTER, the AmbiReciclo, CINFOTEC and Global Shapers Luanda and plans to hold the following events:

  1. Two Motivational Lectures

  4. Donation of Academic Materials

A 5105 School has been trying to create a local library facilitating the academic research of teachers and young people in that community who do not have access to the internet to acquire content, a campaign of donation of several academic, scientific and technological books is underway.
