According to market experts from Synergy Research Group, Microsoft is by far the highest earning business IT provider today. In 2021, the company managed to earn no less than USD 120 billion from its business customers. THE IBM follow second and Amazon (AWS) in third. The first five were completed by Huawei e Cisco in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

In terms of revenue growth, AWS was the clear leader. This saw its revenue increase by 36% in 2021. Salesforce was second with revenue growth of 25 percent and Microsoft with 24 percent. The only major IT player to see revenue drop (-9 percent) was Huawei. Nokia and Ericsson revenues have remained fairly stable.
BUT: Tech giants absent from the first big event of 2022
Researchers naturally identify the various sanctions as the cause of Huawei's revenue decline. Huawei itself can do little about it. To the disappointing results of Nokia and Ericsson, the Synergy Research Group indicates that service providers and operators spent less money on technology this year than the big companies.
- Popular and fast-growing market segments
The researchers also analyzed which IT market segments are most popular and generate the most revenue. They indicate that prior to 2021 this was primarily the market for cloud infrastructure services, collaboration services and business/SaaS software products. Other strong market segments were data center infrastructure and enterprise IT services.
