WhatsApp starts testing message editing feature

O WhatsApp launched a new beta version for Android and iOS and, thanks to this new update, users now have the ability to edit already sent messages.

Since it is only present in the beta version, this capability is not yet available to all users. However, it is clear that WhatsApp is testing the option to edit messages before the official launch.

The ability to edit messages after they have been sent will certainly be useful for anyone using WhatsApp, thus avoiding creating confusion in the conversation or even correcting an error without having to send a new message to correct it. However, note the WABetaInfo website that this option will come with some 'limitations'.

BUT: WhatsApp to launch app for Google smartwatches

Users will be able to edit sent messages only for 15 minutes, and they can change the message as many times as they want during this period. In addition, all participants in a conversation will know when a message has been edited, as the message will appear properly tagged.

It is not yet known when the ability to edit sent messages will reach WhatsApp, but, given that it is already being tested, it is believed that it could be soon.
