Android and iPhone invaded by Italian 'spyware', warns Google

A report shared by Google indicates that the 'hacking' tools of an Italian company – the RCS Lab – were used to hack Android phones as well as Apple iPhones.

BUT: Russia launched cyberattacks against 42 Kiev-allied countries

According to Reuters, these tools were developed with the aim of spying on the private messages and contacts of the targets. The 'attacks' took place mainly in Italy and Kazakhstan and, judging by the RCS Lab website, it seems that some authorities in Europe are clients of this company.

"These vendors are allowing dangerous hacking tools to proliferate and arming governments that would not be able to develop these capabilities themselves.", can be read in the Google report.

However, RCS Lab stated to the North American publication that "does not participate in any activities conducted by relevant customers", condemning any abuse of the products it develops.
