Android Go, a version optimized for smartphones

During the first day of the conference Google I/O 2017, Google presented an optimized version of Android called “Android Go”, which will be for low-cost smartphones with a RAM memory of 1GB or less.

This new version of Android focuses on devices with very low hardware specifications, users with limited connectivity, and multi-language features where A Play Store will highlight apps that can run on those cheap devices.

These applications should be less than 10 MB, work well when you're not connected to the Internet, and support slow-on-chip devices with very little RAM.

For example, this operating system will have YouTube Go, which will be an optimized version of the YouTube application, where there is a new preview feature to be able to watch the video before it even loads the video.

In the future, all versions of Android will be shipped with a variant of Android Go, as Android is becoming increasingly powerful. Android Go seems to be a smart move to make it run on cheap phones and slow networks.

The first smartphones with this release will be released by the end of this year, unfortunately Google has not yet said who the partners or details of these smartphones.
