The 2024 edition of the Angola Startup Summit will feature just 150 startups, a reduced number compared to the 2023 edition, which featured 165 startups, according to data released in the public presentation of the event.
In its 3rd edition of the event, which aims to cement Angola as a regional African reference for innovation and strengthen the country's entrepreneurship ecosystem, as well as creating vehicles and attracting investment for Angolan Startups, it will take place on the 16th, 17th and May 18th.
In 2023, the Angola Startup Summit brought together, also in Luanda, 165 startups, 15 more initiatives than expected this year.
Held with the aim of stimulating innovative initiatives, the last edition rewarded the best initiatives through venture capital and crowdfunding, in the categories 'MEP Challenge', 'Governador Challenge' and 'BCI Challange'.
In the 'MEP Challenge' category, Toque Médio raised 10 million Kwanzas from the former Ministry of Economy and Planning, with the project linked to the restaurant sector.

'Baika Pay', a technological solution for parking in the city of Luanda, won the 'Governor Challenge' award, having received 10 million Kz, financed by the Provincial Government of Luanda.
Already startup INOKU, which presented the best agribusiness technological solution, called SIA (Integrated Agrarian System), won in the 'BCI Challange' category, raising the same amount, awarded by the Banco de Comércio e Indústria (BCI).
In turn, the multinational Deloitte offered business plans to the winning startups, while PwC, another multinational, committed to providing legal, accounting and management consultancy, and the multinational KPMG offered the internationalization of the projects.
The Angola Startup Summit brings together facilities and financing instruments for Startups and MSMEs. During the event, financial products adjustable to the needs and stages of entrepreneurial and business initiatives will be available.
