APF 2019: First Interconnection Forum in Country Brings Network Experts

Palmeiras Suite Hotel hosted from 29 to 30 November 2019 the first Angolan Interconnection Forum ANGOLAN PEERING FORUM , an APF AONOG group event (Angola Network Operators Group) where there were more than 50 participants and several professionals who work with the aim of making a better Angolan Internet.

Engaged with professional Network and Telecommunications operators from the country and the Diaspora, who play instructive roles and participate in the main events of the technological sector, and help collaborating for the technical and operational growth of the Internet, in particular helping the Internet ecosystem in Luanda - Angola.

At the occasion, topics were discussed aimed at awakening network operators to improve the security and management of their networks, highlighting some as:

  • MANRS: Provides crucial fixes to reduce the most common routing threats.
  • DE-CIX is an operator and data center neutral Internet exchange point located in Frankfurt, Germany. It is the largest exchange point in the world in terms of peak traffic, with a maximum transfer rate of more than 7,2 Tbit / s ( terabits per second ).

The Forum did not fail to publicize the platform whose mission is to guarantee national and regional interconnection, called Angonix And among other topics that aim to support the development of the telecommunications sector in Angola and Africa, as well as guarantee national operators high quality international connections and also provide interconnection between operators in the region, as well as between them and the world.
