Facebook has been “struggling” to popularize its instant messaging application, “Facebook Messenger”, which by the way can be considered a competitor to another successful product, Whatsapp.
The last measure to attract users is to unify social network messages with SMS messages. The feature has been tested for some time (roughly a year), but it has only just been officially made available.
How to activate?
The feature is optional and must be enabled manually.
- go to Facebook Messenger settings, select “SMS”
- Click on “Standard SMS application”.
Using the Facebook communication application, SMS sent using Messenger will allow the use of text, images, stickers, animated GIFs, emojis and their location. For those who are concerned about security, the application will only serve as an interface for conversations, none will be stored on Facebook servers.
How to distinguish SMS from messages via application?
It will be easy to distinguish SMS messages from ordinary chat through differentiated colors.
- Facebook messages will be displayed in blue
- Text / SMS conversations will be displayed in purple.
