Google Launches Game Developer Program in Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana

Google announced the launch of a new five-month training program for game developers in Africa to successfully build, scale, launch and promote the next generation of great mobile games in collaboration with Maliyo Games, a Nigerian mobile game developer .

Successful applicants will participate in a virtual training program from August 16 to December 23, 2021, during which they will be assessed at three levels of instruction: Fundamentals of Skill Development Games, Play Store Success and publish your first game.

“With more than 500 million mobile phone users, the African continent represents an important business opportunity for people with creative and technological skills. With this Bootcamp, we are meeting this need”, says Hugo Obi, founder of Maliyo Games.

“Our aim is to incorporate the vivid culture of Africa into video games through storytelling, character development, immersive landscapes, fascinating sounds and strong visuals.”

Bootcamp, according to Maliyo Games, is looking for anyone with basic programming skills or a background in computer science. The organization also stated that potential candidates must be familiar with one of the following programming languages: C#, C++ or PHP.

Mentoring, training seminars and networking events are part of the schedule, which began on Monday, July 19, 2021. The program ends on August 2, 2021.
