Project Fi

A few months ago, Google announced it would be a mobile operator. Everyone wondered how the North American giant could install equipment in record time to launch its services. But Google made it clear that it would be a mobile network operator with virtual network (MVNO).

The project called Project Fi is at an experimental and exclusive stage for the Google Nexus 6 (The smartphone with the Google badge). Still, whoever has Nexus 6 will need to request an invitation to test the service. According to Google, this is the only smartphone with hardware and software optimized to work on the Project Fi network.

How does it work?

Project Fi automatically identifies and connects to the best network, whether it is a public, private hotpspot, or even one of the traditional mobile phone operators - in the USA is the case of Sprint and T-Mobile). To ensure security all calls via Wifi networks will be encrypted to ensure data security.

Pricing

To have the basic features with unlimited messages, low cost on international calls just subscribe to the Basic Plan which costs $ 20 / month. If the user needs, he can use extra traffic ($ 10 per 1GB).

The differential

Calls and messages can be transmitted via a Wi-Fi network if you are in a location without coverage of the cellular cellular network.
Another interesting feature is the possibility of forwarding calls via Wi-Fi network to cellular mobile networks, and vice versa, without any interruption.

However one detail did not please many users: the basic $ 20 / month plan is mandatory. Qto test register here: http://fi.google.com/ (for users in the US only ... as expected)
