With an increasingly technological world and predictions that in the future everything will be even more connected to the network, it is natural that now is the time to prepare human and material resources for what lies ahead. In this sense, Google will train 20.000 Nigerian women and youth in digital skills and will also make a donation of around 1,4 million euros to help the country's government create digital jobs.

According to information found by Reuters, Google has plans to train around 20.000 Nigerians, focusing on women and young people, in digital skills. The news was mentioned this Tuesday (16) by the company's executives in Africa, where it was also announced that Google will make a donation of 1,2 billion naira (~1,4 million euros) to help the Nigerian government to create one million digital jobs in the country.

The vice-president of the country, Kashim Shettima, told the executives of the North American giant in Africa that Nigeria wants to create jobs for its young population. The statements were made during a meeting in Abuja, but Shettima did not provide details or a timetable for that same plan. However, Google Africa executives said that the company's generous donation, in partnership with Data Science Nigeria and the Creative Industry Initiative for Africa, will facilitate this program.

The Nigerian vice president also said that this initiative by Google meets the government's commitment to increase youth participation in the digital economy. He also referred that the Nigerian government is working with the country's banks on the project.

Olumide Balogun, Google's director in West Africa, said the company would provide funds and digital skills to women and youth in Nigeria, also enabling startups to grow and therefore create jobs.
