The National Multisectoral Commission for the Safeguarding of the World Cultural Heritage presented a project to digitize Angolan museums and historic sites, with the aim of providing virtual visits to these cultural heritage sites.

This project was presented at the 7th ordinary meeting of the National Multisectoral Commission, chaired by the Vice-President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, against the background of the restrictions that the world is experiencing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the meeting's press release, the project to digitize Angolan museums and historic sites is to boost interest in academic research, scientific research, tourism, as well as to act as an incentive for face-to-face visits.

The Secretary of State for Culture, Maria Piedade de Jesus, speaking to journalists, said that the project was proposed to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment by a unique company, and where “It is a level proposal and within the new context we live in, it is relevant", said.

"The Ministry has not yet taken any decision. We will likely hold a public tender to find these services. For this reason, we brought to the consideration of the Multisectoral Commission for the Safeguarding of Heritage“, informed the Secretary.

Still on the same path of conversation, the Governor added that the digitization of a museum can make it easier for users who cannot travel, and allow them to be able to find information and visit museums in this way.

"Digitization can help us preserve our assets“, He stressed.
