The long-awaited ransom demand by the hackers who invaded Record's system has arrived. The attackers are asking for 5 million dollars for the “key” to the station's contents to be recovered. If payment is not made, cybercriminals promise to publish all content on the internet.

The information was obtained by Germán Fernández, a cybersecurity specialist who had access to conversations between BlackCat/AlphaVM – the ransomware used in the hack – and Record TV. According to Fernández, the attack would have started on Friday (7).

The hacker group presented a period for the broadcaster to pay the requested amount. The deadline imposed by the hackers is until 13:56 (in the North American time zone) on October 15 for the broadcaster to make the payment and recover your data.

The attack on the station took place around 14 pm last Saturday (8) and forced Record TV to change its programming. At the exact moment of the invasion, the program “Fala Brasil” was interrupted, so Record had to show the series “Todo Mundo Hates Chris”.
