Instagram: Hackers invade accounts and steal personal information

A bug in outdated versions of Instagram is allowing hackers to enter private accounts. There are several celebrities affected.

This week, a security breach in the social network Instagram, allowed millions of personal data to stop an individual's hand. While the company first said the attack was limited to verified account holders, it later confirmed that unverified users were also affected.

Hours after the spreading of the attack, the hackers established a searchable database called Doxagram, allowed users to retrieve victims' contact information for $ 10 per survey.

Instagram has yet to say how many accounts have been affected. There are more than 700 million active Instagram accounts; Hackers say they have information in the file for 6 millions of users. User passwords were not exposed in the attack, according to the Instagram team.

But there are steps to prevent hackers from accessing your account:

  1. Immediately update the app
  2. Use different emails for different applications.
  3. If you receive emails about recovering passwords you didn't request, let Instagram know immediately.
