Meta launches a new social network to rival Twitter

In a week where Twitter, Elon Musk's social network, announced that the number of publications that could be viewed per day by users would be limited, Meta, Mark Zuckerberg's company, announced the “Threads”.

Threads, an app created by Meta (Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp) to rival Twitter, will apparently launch this Thursday, July 6th. In fact, the application's official pages are already available both on Google Play Store and in Apple App Store.

Apparently, new Threads users will be able to link their account to Instagram and start following all the people they already follow on the social network. However, Threads appears to be being promoted as an independent social network.

“Threads is where communities come together to talk about everything from today's hot topics to what's hot tomorrow”, can be read on the dedicated page on the Google virtual store. “No matter what your interest, you can follow and connect with your favorite content creators and others with the same passions — or build a loyal audience to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.”.

Like Twitter, a feature that draws attention in the Threads presentation is the possibility of choosing who can respond to publications made on the social network.

Threads will allow the user to keep the responses visible to the public or just the followers.
