Electronic platform “Kizola” is the winner of the “Hackathon of Ideas”

The electronic platform “Kizola” was the big winner of the first edition of the "Ideas Hackathon", an online event that consisted of training and promoting young national entrepreneurship, as well as aimed at financing and monitoring intervention projects with social impact developed by young people.

The “Kizola” project, a word of Kimbundu origin and which in Portuguese means to love, was created by four young people in two days (24th to 25th June) and aims to bring together individual and collective people, on a non-profit basis. The winners also received 650 thousand kwanzas to be invested in the development of the project, as well as internet on mobile phones.

The “Hackathon of Ideas” was an event organized by the Policy Experimentation & Evaluation Platform (PEEP), in partnership with the Media Library Network of Angola, as well as the Embassy of the United States of America, the National Petroleum Institute, the Miranda Alliance and the agency Young Network Angola, among others.

BUT: Angola hosts “Hackathon of Ideas” to boost youth entrepreneurship

According to Afonso Zinga, member of PEEP, this first edition of the hackathon aimed to train young Angolans and promote self-employment through youth entrepreneurship.

More than 25 teams participated in this edition of the “Hackathon of Ideas”, in which the 300 young people enrolled were distributed in groups of four to six elements, who worked for two days on the creation of projects linked to agribusiness, education, social entrepreneurship, solidarity and information technologies (linked to finance).

Of the six selected projects, only three were awarded certificates and monetary values, along with the “Kizola” project, Mares do Futuro, by the Huíla province collective (400 Kwanzas) and automated Agricultural Greenhouse, in Benguela (200).
