The Federal Security Service of Russia accused the Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), and the US National Security Agency for conducting an espionage operation to surveil citizens and diplomats in Russia.
Despite not containing any kind of proof, the accusation indicates that Apple will have assigned to the US National Security Agency a 'key' that allows access to the iPhones of people targeted by the spying operation.

In its defense, Apple sent the 9to5mac website a statement completely rejecting the allegations. “We have never worked with any government to introduce a 'back door' into any Apple product and we never will.”, can be read in Apple's statement.
