Operators are doing everything they can to quickly bring the 5G network to their users. Huawei's technology has been requested by operators on several continents.

This time, Sunrise UPC has deployed Huawei's next-generation BladeAAU Pro solution in its network in Switzerland, revealing new possibilities for 5G business development in a multitude of innovative scenarios.

2G, 3G, 4G and 5G coverage with a single BladeAAU Pro unit for Sunrise UPC

Most base stations in Switzerland are deployed at a single pole. While 5G deployment continues, Sunrise UPC maintains existing 2G, 3G and 4G sites, leaving major challenges in antenna space, wind resistance and tower roll. Site adjustment requires a building permit if the antenna space differs from the original site in length, and this can take months or even years. Many of their sites have only one antenna with limited space. That means a heavy fit for the new 5G build.

With Huawei's BladeAAU Pro, Sunrise UPC greatly accelerates 5G Massive MIMO deployment.

Huawei's BladeAAU Pro integrates active and passive antennas. It allows multiple bands and radio access technologies to be deployed on the same antennas, dramatically simplifying network deployment. This high level of integration allows an antenna to provide coverage for multiple network modes, reducing wind resistance and ensuring that 5G modules can be installed in higher positions on existing poles. With its full-band and high-bandwidth support, it helps operators reduce deployment time and is flexible enough to adapt to various scenarios. With this combination of powerful features, BladeAAU Pro has become a favorite among operators since its circulation in the global telecommunications market.

Alexander Lehrmann, Director of New Business Development and Innovation at Sunrise UPC, commented on the deployment, saying, “Sunrise UPC's goal is to continue as a leader in building high-quality 5G networks that can deliver premium experience and lead our business towards success. ” He said Sunrise UPC hopes to further innovate with Huawei to promote 5G business development in a variety of new spheres, including smart building, smart agriculture, smart health and smart places.

Wang Haitao, CEO of Huawei Switzerland, said: “5G development around the world is entering uncharted territory. Huawei strives to provide innovative products and solutions for global operators to address the challenges faced in 5G business and explore more scenarios for 5G innovation and application, achieving business success.
