Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) is considering banning the messaging app Telegram due to the presidential elections that will take place next October, where this decision aims to combat the misinformation shared on that platform, reveals the Reuters.

According to the news platform, the TSE is considering banning Telegram because the company has not yet responded to requests to meet with the body. According to that court, the head of the TSE, Luís Roberto Barroso, has been trying to meet with the CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, since December so that they can discuss measures to combat misinformation during the election campaign.

BUT: Telegram gains 70 million users with Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram “blackout”

It should be noted that the TSE claims that Telegram is on 53% of mobile phones in Brazil, which makes it an element to consider in the fight against disinformation by electoral bodies.
