The Telegram app registered a new record of 70 million new users in just one day, after last Monday, October 4th, after three of the biggest the world's communications platforms have gone down: Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp. These numbers were advanced by the CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov.
It should be noted that the three main social networks in the world, all belonging to the Facebook group, were paralyzed for almost six hours on Monday, which was a breath of fresh air for rivals, such as the case of Telegram and Signal, which also reported that day an increase of “millions” of new users.
Millions of new people have joined Signal today and our messaging and calling have been up and running but some people aren't seeing all of their contacts appear on Signal. We're working hard to fix this up.

BUT: Blackout on Facebook was due to "defective configuration change"
The application made sure to leave a welcome message for newcomers. "For new users, I'd just like to say – welcome to Telegram, the largest independent messaging platform”, leaving the promise that “we won't leave it when others will”, referring that “the Telegram is light years ahead of the competition.”, wrote Durov, thanking the migration and also thanking the Telegram team for the way they handled this exponential growth.
