Recently Google reported that 13 proposed new emojis to better represent women in professional fields, and now the company reported that 11 of these emojis have been approved by Unicode Consortium recently.

In the new emojis are included, a chef, a girl graduated and a  rockstar like David Bowie, they will be available in both versions (male and female) with all skin tones. The two unapproved emojis in Google’s proposal appear to be an assembly line worker and a dentist. In addition to the 11 new emojis (image above) Unicode is also adding versions of both sexes of existing 33 emoji, such as the private eye and the weight lifter.

It is hardly new that professional emojis for women have been quite limited until now, but with that approval things tend to change. This change also included a bride and a princess who are not really career options. Now that the new emojis have been approved, they should be available in future versions of Android and on other Google platforms.
