Angola's 18 provinces are already linked by fiber optics

The Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, José Carvalho da Rocha, revealed at the last press conference held at the Office for the Revitalization and Implementation of Institutional Communication and Marketing Management (GRECIMA) in Luanda, that 20 thousand kilometers of fiber optic cable already were installed in Angola which resulted in the connection of 18 provincial capitals of the country.

He also said that the sector will continue to work to improve network structures and continue to create strategies so that more and more citizens can have access to information and communication technologies.

It is important that we are aware that these challenges must be considered by all as business opportunities taking advantage of the infrastructure that now exists and which will come, referring to the Angosat 1 satellite.

The Minister also spoke about the fiber optic cable between Sangano (Luanda) and Brazil that will aim to guarantee better taxation of the costs of mobile telephony and internet.
