Windows 10 update is causing printing issues

If you are still in Windows 10, and you usually print via USB, maybe it's better to pay attention to updates. This is because Microsoft has recently confirmed new issues in the system derived from recent updates provided for it.

According to Microsoft, users who are on Windows 10 in versions 20H2, 21H1, and 21H2, as well as Windows Server variants, may experience problems printing via USB if they have installed updates from June 28 – namely KB5014666.

Among the failures reported are the failure to print documents using Windows, when the printers are connected via USB to the system. There are also reports that the printer may not be recognized at all, or comes up with an unknown status.

The company claims that this problem can happen on some systems, and that the situation is currently being verified. The resolution is expected to be released in the coming weeks, but still no scheduled date for this.

However, users are advised to check if they have, in the list of printers on the system, a copy of the original version of the printer they intend to use, which should allow them to be used correctly – however, user comments on various platforms seem to indicate that this resolution does not apply in all cases.

The company also advises users to check for new versions of printer drivers from their website – which might not help anyone with older or out-of-support printers either.
