The sports associations in Angola are increasingly realizing the power of the internet and, more particularly, of social networks.
The 1º de Agosto Sports Club is one of the most invested in digital platforms to get closer to its fans. They must be reminded of the multicaixa card launched in partnership with one of the banks of our square. If that does not impress you, maybe the more 349 thousand tastes on the official Facebook page of the club do so.
To prove that this “digital” investment is not being made by chance, “D'Agosto” decided to take another step: launching the application "Meet the 1st of August".
The app was officially made available on the 1 August page, and how could it not be, the team of MenosFios tested it. The application is initially being made available for smartphones with Android operating system, meaning that Apple users will have to wait a little longer.
What are the functionality?
The application has two strands: a disclosures and another one of Entertainment. We move on to the entertainment part: a game of questions and answers, in the format of the famous “who wants to Be a Millionaire“. There are several challenges involving the history of the club, with the chance of having the usual help.
The game has 3 levels:
- 1st Round - with 7 questions, each worth 100 points
- 2st Round - with 3 questions, each worth 100 points
- 3st Round - with 5 questions, each worth 100 points
On the other side of the application, there is a menu that allows us to know:
- D'Agosto History,
- Club Titles
- List of presidents
- List of first partners and contact with the club area responsible for the members
We tested on a midrange phone with 1GB of RAM and we had no performance issues. However there are some improvement points that we will describe below:
Weaknesses
- When you open the application, there is a music that does not stop never. Even the best supporters of the club may find it uncomfortable. In addition, music makes your smartphone's battery charge run out faster. Recommendation: Deploy a button to mute the sound.
2. No written instructions: The application has audio instructions only, but most people use the games in public places (rows of banks, hospitals ...), certainly they will not be comfortable in disturbing others with the instructions of the D'Agosto app.
3. There are no Menu or back, making browsing through the application options quite difficult.
4. In some cases, when we ask for help, we receive the wrong answer. We don't know if it was planned, to make the “game” more difficult, or if it was even a design error.
5. Design: in addition to the absence of the buttons, in some screens the text is superimposed, making interpretation difficult.
