Angola proposes “STEM Education: Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths” for Africa

1961

The Angolan Government will propose for the African continent a “Teaching STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths” as a way of leveraging development and understanding that today's countries that have developed rapidly have this model of Education as a common denominator.

This ideology was manifested by the Vice-President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, at the extraordinary session of the Committee of Ambassadors for Africa, Caribbean and Pacific, on the occasion of the visit to the headquarters of the OEACP, in Brussels, on behalf of the Head of State, João Lourenço , where he reiterated our country's engagement in holding the 10th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP), with important steps taken in this direction.

Steps such as the creation of a working group by presidential initiative, the ratification and deposit of the letter of ratification of the agreement, as well as the signing of the memorandum of understanding on hosting this 10th Summit, to be held in December of the current year, in Luanda, these are just a few mentioned, considering that they “certify the commitment and commitment of the Republic of Angola”.

Bornito de Sousa also said that Angola will dedicate particular attention to two topics: “Peace and Security and Governance"and "Education, culture, professional training and migration and mobility".

With regard to Education, Culture and Vocational Training, Migration and Mobility, he highlighted engagement and the importance of investing in youth, an issue that, within the framework of this Summit, takes into account the notes and commitments assumed at the 5th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the AU-EU 2017.

  1. Paradoxically, if I remember correctly the Government had decided to eliminate some courses due to the “lack” of conditions, among them the Mathematics course.
