Mozambique will rely on Angola's help in implementing its space infrastructure, according to the Director of Radiocommunications and Inspection at the Mozambican Regulatory Authority, Martins Langa.

Speaking at the II workshop on “Regulatory Framework and Space Economy”, held in Luanda by the Association of Communication Regulators of Southern Africa (CRASA), the official stressed that it is important that each country in the region has a structured and safe space program, mainly those who have already taken good steps, such as Angola.

"Spatial infrastructure can complement mobile broadband expansion. Angola has already taken big steps, maybe it can teach us to take smaller steps, in order to see what is the possibility of Mozambique also entering the space age”, said the person in charge.

This edition of the workshop brought together the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), where they recommended CRASA to promote the development of human resources for the ecosystems involved in spatial communication in the region.

BUT: Angola to reinforce intra-African space cooperation

Participants recognized the role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) regulators in creating an enabling environment for satellite communications in compliance with universally accepted Requirements, Security Standards and Spectrum Management.

At the meeting, the participants suggested the development of academic curricula to respond to strategic spatial needs.

In addition, participants called for innovations in ecosystems based on space and local content, relevant to the African context, in order to improve the agreements that will be signed in the space area.
