Angola wants to increasingly strengthen intra-African cooperation in space, where it has very recently presented the advantages and opportunities for African countries in the use of the capabilities of the Angolan communications satellite, the ANGOSAT-2.
This information was revealed by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technologies Pascoal Borges Alé Fernandes, speaking at the Newspace Africa 2023 Conference, from April 25 to 28, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, reiterating Angola's objectives in the Earth Observation satellite, ANGEO-1, its National Space Strategy 2016 – 2025.
The Secretary of State also said that Angola has been working closely with other African countries in order to contribute to the space sector in Africa, where some examples are the work with the countries of the SADC Region, where he leads the Committee of Satellite Specialists of SADC within the scope of the Satellite Sharing Programme, as well as the various meetings we have with different African countries sharing the experience acquired in the National Space Programme.

Also present on the panel in which Angola participated were Andiswa Mlisa, former Executive Director of the National Space Agency of South Africa, Prof. Adama Diawara, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Côte d'Ivoire, Professor Mohammed Belhocine, Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI) of the African Union.
In addition to the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technologies, the Angolan delegation also included the Director General of the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN) Zolana João, who participated in the panels: The Role of Satellites in the Construction of an Africa Connected and Optimize Regional Blocks for Innovation and Development in the African Space Industry, and others.
