In just one year since its launch, the Angosat-2 It has already allowed the installation of internet services in more than 150 remote locations (communes and municipalities) in the country, as well as in public and private institutions.

This technological update and benefits coming from the national satellite is due to the installation of more than 150 “Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT)” terminals – small antennas providing telecommunications services – which are connected through the Angolan Satellite, in a business class action of this sector.

The terminals were installed in 16 of the country's 18 provinces, giving many Angolans access to internet services, increasingly reducing digital asymmetry, in addition to promoting technological inclusion for citizens.

"One year after the launch of ANGOSAT-2, we can feel proud and satisfied with the performance of this space infrastructure, which has already allowed telecommunications operators to install VSAT terminals in more than 150 remote areas of the country.” said Mário Oliveira, Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication.

BUT: Angolan companies are already exploring Angosat-2 commercial services

Please note that the Angolan company Angola Cables wants to take advantage of the potential of Angosat-2 to sell its services to other African countries, according to its Commercial Director, Rui Faria.

The manager, who spoke exclusively to the newspaper OPaís, said that the company is interested in acquiring the services of the Angolan satellite, as the objective is to complete the offer for the African market with links to the most remote areas where coverage is still limited.

"We are going to study the business model, prices, where to apply all the available structure, mainly in terms of the space segment and the capacity“, he informed.

As for whether this sector is profitable, Rui Faria says that because Africa has little structure in several countries, taking into account some factors. He clarified that the satellite is a structure that is easy to install in remote areas, using small antennas from telepoints in a city or country and has this advantage.
