As angolan libraries must adapt to the dynamics of information and communication technologies (ICTs), in order to facilitate access to content and increase the number of consultants.

This opinion was supported by the head of the Department for Acquisition, Legal Deposit and Preservation of Collections at the National Library, Joaquim Luís, noting that this change involves making physical material available in the digital universe, taking into account the ever-increasing number of ICT users ´s, especially for teenagers and young people.

The official who was speaking at the end of the XNUMXst Provincial Forum of Libraries, stressed that it is necessary to establish a complementary relationship between the physical and digital book, so that no format subordinates the other.

He highlighted the importance of continuous training for librarians on digital communication, in order to be able to respond to the challenges of the new era.

In turn, the director of the Provincial Library, Ema Massunga, pointed out the digital age as the challenge that public libraries face, which is why the institution that she directs has reinvented itself and invested in its insertion in the different digital platforms, making available and suggesting titles.

The event organized by the provincial library of Malanje, aimed to strengthen relations between libraries and similar agents, promote debates on the role and their contribution to the development of communities.

Topics such as the role of libraries in the digital age and the challenges faced by librarians, librarianship, the importance of reading and writing for intellectual development in communities, rules for serving the public, ethics and professional deontology were discussed.
