Angolan banks are now subject to observing merchants' tax information when signing an automatic payment terminal (APT) acceptance contract.

This information came in an instruction from the National Bank of Angola (BNA), specifically from the Payment Systems Department of the main national banking institution, establishing the XML format model for filling in information when signing the TPA acceptance contract, with verification of the active Tax Identification Number (NIF) and registration trader's tax, without forgetting the economic activity related to the corporate purpose.

In the official statement, the BNA suggests that banks access the General Tax Administration portal to consult the TIN and the merchant's economic activity.

BUT: Percentage of the commission to be charged by merchants in TPAs may register an increase

The BNA also recommends that banks, within a period not exceeding 90 days after the publication of the directive, update the NIF of all merchants with whom they have signed TPA acceptance contracts.

The note also clarifies that the signature of the TPA acceptance contract is pending whenever it is not possible to obtain information on the AGT Portal, where banks must also, on a quarterly basis, describe information regarding the merchants with whom they have this type of contract. .

Regarding this instruction from the BNA, it should be noted that contracted TPAs within the scope of simplified accounts are excluded.
