Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe sign protocols to computerize Justice

Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe will sign a cooperation protocol for Justice professionals within the scope of technical assistance linked to judicial computerization.

"With the signing of the protocol, we will be creating a basis for our Justice professionals to be able to exchange technical assistance, speak and address issues that are of common interest“, stated the Minister of Justice, Public Administration and Human Rights of São Tomé and Príncipe, Ilza Amado Vaz, who began a four-day visit to the Cape Verdean capital.

After a meeting in Praia with her counterpart, Ilza Amado Vaz said that the “two countries have many similarities, historical ties” and that the legal matrix and judicial organization are similar, which will facilitate mutual assistance.

"There are several areas in which we can collaborate and count on Cape Verde's experience” in the computerization of the judicial system, he said, at a time when São Tomé and Príncipe began the process of computerizing criminal proceedings.

The Minister of Justice of Cape Verde, Joana Rosa, highlighted the reinforcement of cooperation “with a sister country” and sharing good practices.

"We will sign a protocol with the Minister of Justice of São Tomé, outlining the various areas to be strengthened, intensifying our relations, making ourselves available for some technical assistance depending on the needs of São Tomé and Príncipe“, He added.

During the visit to Cape Verde, which runs until Thursday, the São Tomé delegation will have several meetings with stakeholders in the judiciary sector and visits to the data center of the Operational Center for the Information Society (NOSI), a public entity that develops solutions fingerprints, on Tuesday, and to the National Civil and Criminal Identification Archive, and respective digitization center, on Wednesday.

On the same day, Ilza Amado Vaz participates in the launch of the Cape Verdean Diaspora Mapping project, an activity of the Ministry of Communities, at the Government Palace.

On the last day of the visit, the government official will meet with the Justice digital transformation team.

The São Tomé delegation includes the general director of Registration and Notary Affairs, Silvestre D'Apresentação, and the deputy director of the Judiciary Police, Djamila Braga.
