Cape Verde will take 10 startups to the 2023 edition of WebSummit, which takes place in November, in Lisbon, and wants young entrepreneurs to have the opportunity to meet business leaders and investors at the meeting on new technologies.

"10 Cape Verdean 'startups' will be selected, through a public tender, to be present on this relevant international stage“, announces Cabo Verde Digital in the regulation of the GoGlobal program, consulted yesterday by Lusa.

Cabo Verde Digital is a platform of the Government of Cape Verde dedicated to the promotion of information technologies and its ecosystem in the country. Applications run until September 17 and selected 'startups' – technology companies in the initial phase of activity – will receive training to prepare for the event, as well as support with all the logistics associated with traveling to Lisbon.

BUT: Cabo Verde expresses interest in hosting the Web Summit event

GoGlobal is now in its tenth edition, in partnership with several entities from the Cape Verdean technological sector, with the aim of “consolidate and institutionalize the country's participation in the largest technology, innovation and entrepreneurship events in the world“. At the same time, it is intended to give visibility to projects and technological 'startups' from Cape Verde in the global market, offering the possibility of partnerships aligned with the latest trends and innovations.

The archipelago will have an exhibition space at the Web Summit, focusing on selected companies and the entire digital ecosystem in the country. In May, the first regional event of the Web Summit brand was held in Rio de Janeiro, bringing together more than 20 participants, 500 investors and around 750 'startups'.

At that time, Cape Verde took two 'startups' to a first meeting with the Latin American market and the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Ulisses Correia e Silva, was one of the speakers at the event, highlighting the country's qualities to retain investors and be the destination of digital nomads.
