Portugal's digital virtual consulate opens this week in Luanda

The Prime Minister of Portugal António Costa announced that the virtual consulate of that country will be available in Angola from the 10th, considering that this is a step to reduce bureaucracy and ease the demand for consular services in Luanda.

The official who was speaking in the country's capital at the end of a reception with about a hundred national businessmen present in the Angolan market, which was also attended by the Angolan Foreign Minister, Téte António.

"No one will take me wrong if I announce a few days in advance that, on the next 10th [Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities] we are going to have a virtual consulate on everyone's cell phone, which will allow them to start practicing a set of consular acts by digital means“, he declared.

The leader of the Portuguese executive said that it will be possible “biometric recognition with complete security, also relieving the pressure on consular services” of Portugal.
