Spending across all IT segments will increase this year, according to Gartner experts. The business software segment is the leader, with spending growth of 8,8% compared to last year. Instead of spending money on suitable solutions and applications to ensure business continuity, as happened in 2020, this year more will be invested in recovery and growth.

The continued need for tools for remote work or hybrid work environments means that this segment still receives most of the investments, according to experts. Spending on IT solutions and applications for this market segment will grow by 4,9%.

In addition, spending on devices will also show strong growth. This segment will grow on an 8% scale. Again, the reason is the huge need for remote work applications. This includes the growing demand for education to facilitate distance learning.

Expected trends for 2021

Key business trends for 2021 include growth in cloud computing, key business applications, security and a better customer experience, according to Gartner. More specifically, much attention is being paid to the so-called Internet of Behaviors (IoB) with applications such as facial recognition and behavioral analysis tools. Other expected trends include customer, employee and end user experiences, enhanced privacy features, cloud distribution, collaboration, AI, automation and security.
