MultiChoice, Africa's leader in satellite television service, recently announced the candidacies for the 5th edition of the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), its world-class film and television training program starting this October.

According to the press release, to which the editorial staff of MenosFios had access, for the class of 2022 MultiChoice is looking for 60 aspiring film and TV content creators from Southern Africa, West Africa and East Africa for its fully financed by the company, with a duration of 12 months.

Applications are open to all emerging filmmakers with some relevant industry experience or post-school qualification to apply for this exciting opportunity to improve their television and film production skills. The MTF is a program that combines film studies such as directing, sound design, the film business, to name a few, with on-the-job experience on major M-Net productions.

In this 2022 edition, the MTF will be led by three new M-Net Academy Directors, namely Atinuke Babatunde (West Africa Central), Victoria Goro (East Africa Central) and Christopher Puta (Southern Africa Central).

The renowned director also stressed that “There are so many stories on our continent that need to be told and documented with competence and passion that only a program like MTF Academy can train young people to do it. I can't wait to be part of this journey,”.

Meanwhile, Oriental Academy Director Victoria Goro will lead MTF's East Africa Hub, where she brings 31 years of experience in film production to her belt and as one of Kenya's most sought-after documentary production specialists.

“As someone passionate about training and knowledge sharing, there is nothing that can match the level of knowledge and hands-on experience that the Class of 2023 will gain. The fact that the MTF program also results in alumni setting up production companies upon graduation, thereby thriving in self-employment, tells you all you need to know about the success of this program,” revealed Goro in a statement.

The MultiChoice Talent Factory comes as a way for MultiChoice Africa to show that it is committed to building and sustaining the pipeline of training for employment in Africa's film and television industry, and where this initiative aims for a 60/40 split in favor of women from the its beginning.

According to MultiChoice Africa, in addition to the practical training that all students will receive as part of the program, they will also receive an enhanced training experience from the Academy's partnerships, which include the New York Film Academy (NYFA), Henley Business School, Dolby and Canon, among others.
