A group of technology companies announced the formation of an alliance to develop the necessary standards to develop a more open metaverse.
According to Reuters, the alliance was named Metaverse Standards Forum and, among the founding members, we find names such as Meta, Microsoft, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Epic Games, Nvidia, Huawei, Qualcomm, Unity and even Adobe.
It should be noted that Google and Apple are absent from this list, two technology companies with ongoing projects in the area of Augmented Reality and which could also play important roles in the creation of the metaverse.
This group of companies will allegedly be focused on “pragmatic projects” and should organize events and work on 'open source' projects to accelerate the adoption of these standards.
