Lubango will get a photovoltaic solar plant by 2024

TotalEnergies will launch a photovoltaic solar plant with an installed capacity of 35 megawatts (MW) in the city of Lubango, Huila province.

This solar plant comes under a contract for installation and operation made with Sonagás and Greentech, which will be called Central Quilemba and should have an additional 45 MW in a second phase.

The construction of the referred plant will begin in 2023, and where its entry into operation is scheduled for 2024 and the concession of the unit has a duration of 25 years.

According to what was revealed, the Quilemba project will be carried out in the model of “independent energy producer”, where the entire investment, not disclosed in the company's statement, is ensured by the project promoters (TotalEnergies Angola 51%, Sonagás, a subsidiary of Sonangol, 30% and Greentech 19%).
