Inacom announces the dates for its first frequency auction

O Angolan Institute of Communications (Inacom) announced on Monday (24), the debut of the model for the allocation of rights to use the radio spectrum through auctions.

The auction that will take place in the 16 to August 18 (700 MHZ bands in the 703 MHz and 788MHz bands and 800 MHZ bands in the bands between 791 MHz and 862 MH). All bands aim to allow frequencies to be properly used and the State can raise revenue, make this exercise more effective and promote improved access for companies to radio frequencies.

The auction will allow more frequencies to trigger a paradigm shift in licensing to telecommunications operators

The rights to use the radio spectrum for the portion of the digital dividend are attributions that contribute to the expansion of electronic communications services and the improvement of coverage and accessibility to services with reduced investment.

"We will have a technological and service revolution. What users want is to talk, surf the Internet and have access to television“. Three services that we all would like to have access to in a single device, said the Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, José Carvalho da Rocha.

Inacom's intention is to ensure that as many operators as possible have access to the scarce resource.

This auction is a consequence of the Strategic Radio Spectrum and Numbering Spectrum Plan ("PEERNUM"), approved by Presidential Decree n. 95 / 16, 10 May 2016.
