Internet breaks record in Angola in August

2437

O Angonix, Internet Exchange Point, hit a new historic record last August, by processing 33,3 GB of internal traffic.

The brand, unique in our country, represents a growth of around 20% in local internet consumption, which gains greater expression when compared to the 26 Gbps of usage in the first half of the current year.

BUT: Government must create incentives for telecommunications companies to invest in the country

A TV Cabo was the institution that most contributed to these numbers never achieved before, with a contribution of 12,4 Gbps, Zap with 12Gbps, followed by Africell with 6Gbps, Facebook 5Gbps, as well as Microsoft and Chevron.

According to the press release sent to the Economy & Market, this increase in local internet consumption was triggered by various events that took place in the country, mainly the General Elections of August 24th, but also due to greater investment by the Executive in the corresponding infrastructure and the implementation of policies that favor development in the digital economy, making it stronger and more inclusive.
